The polka-dot and stripe pattern running across our dress is artfully created using a complex ikat technique. Shaped with a crossover neckline and accented by slender ties at the front and back of the waist, allowing you to cinch in the silhouette.
The weavers work under master artisan Bikshapati Kolaan in the village of Yellanki in Andhra Pradesh. He has been weaving for over 40 years, following the path of his father. The cotton yarns are carefully bound and dyed to create the pattern, then handwoven to create a soft fabric.
Polka-dot and stripe cotton ikat. Hand-dyed. Handwoven. Crossover neckline. Slender front and back waist ties. Side seam pockets. Internal hanging loop.
Machine wash 40ºC. 100% cotton.
Made in India.
This fabric is handloom woven. Weaving irregularities are a pleasing characteristic of handloom woven items and should not be considered a fault. An age-old and complex technique of patterning cloth, whereby the pattern is pre-determined by tie-dyeing the yarn prior to weaving. The characteristic haziness of the pattern that emerges is a pleasing result of this hand process.
