Poppy Fuller Abbott Weavings
Brighton-based weaver Poppy Fuller Abbott creates textile works such as wall hangings and placemats using natural yarns and dyes. She creates nuanced dyes, often using plants grown on her mother’s allotment, each creating natural variations when applied to fibres.
Brighton-based weaver Poppy Fuller Abbott creates textile works using natural yarns and dyes, often from plants grown on her mother's allotment.
To create this placemat, she dyes the hemp yarn warp and weft firstly with weld, then woad, using a resist technique. The fabric is then handwoven on an 8 shaft Harris loom and the edges hand-knotted.
Being handmade, each varies in colour, pattern and form.
