Our gown is crafted from uplifting zig-zag ikat which is created through ancient technique. Cut to an easy shape with three-quarter-length sleeves and side patch pockets.
The weavers work under master artisan Bikshapati Kolaan in the village of Yellanki in Andhra Pradesh. He has been weaving for over 40 years, following the path of his father. The cotton yarns are carefully bound and dyed to create the pattern, then handwoven to create a soft fabric.
Cotton ikat. Hand-dyed. Handwoven. Three-quarter-length sleeves. Side patch pockets. Waist tie. Cotton voile lining. Internal hanging loop.
Machine wash 30ºC. 100% cotton.
Made in India.
This fabric is handloom woven. Weaving irregularities are a pleasing characteristic of handloom woven items and should not be considered a fault. An age-old and complex technique of patterning cloth, whereby the pattern is pre-determined by tie-dyeing the yarn prior to weaving. The characteristic haziness of the pattern that emerges is a pleasing result of this hand process
