In our series Community Threads, we bring together the creative individuals who make up our TOAST shop teams and explore the ways in which they thoughtfully style pieces from our new collections.

Our latest visit takes us to Brooklyn, where our first New York shop sits on Atlantic Avenue in Boerum Hill - a tree-lined neighbourhood known for its independent spirit, historic brownstones and growing community of bookshops, restaurants and boutiques.

Sunny

Sunny joined the team for the opening of TOAST Brooklyn last May. She is currently rereading On Earth We’re Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong. “Even on a second read, his use of language is breathtaking.” She’s also enjoying Only God Was Above Us by Vampire Weekend and recently saw them perform at Madison Square Garden. She’ll be seeing them again in Philadelphia with her family. “It’s a full-circle moment.”

Sunny wears the Maze Print Cotton Poplin Dress, Pinwheel Print Silk Bandana, and Vibae Leather Fisherman Sandals.

Sunny is 5’2 and wears size UK 8-10.

Noah

Noah has been a part of the TOAST Brooklyn team since July 2024. He is reading The Fall of Hyperion by Dan Simmons. “It’s a bit cheesy - it’s a space opera from the 1980s - but also inspired by Chaucer and Keats, which makes it really interesting.”

Noah wears the Garment Dyed Patch Pocket Shirt, Cotton Poplin Tapered Pants and Vibae Roma Mules.

Noah is 5’9 and wears size UK M and 32.

Stella

Stella began at our Nolita shop in November and moved over to Brooklyn in December. Outside of TOAST, she enjoys cooking and is currently listening to Kitchen Confidential by Anthony Bourdain. “He narrates the audiobook himself, which is really special. It’s fascinating to hear about the New York food scene from the inside.”

Stella wears the Panelled Cotton Poplin Top, Pleated Raise Stripe Cotton Skirt, Folk Floral Print Linen Bandana, and Steve Mono Artisanal Pumps.

Stella is 5’6 and wears a size UK 6.

Dante

Dante joined the Brooklyn team alongside Sunny last May. “I like to mix bright patterns with grounded, earthy pieces - something androgynous but expressive.” They are currently finishing Return of the King and starting The Iliad, translated by Emily Wilson. “Her translation is to die for.”

Dante wears the Floral Embroidered Cotton Poplin Shirt, Rory Cotton Linen Drawstring Trousers and Vibae Roma Mules.

Dante is 5’6 and wears size UK 10 and 30.
