La Chamba Clay Cookware
Traditional cooking pots and dishes handmade in La Chamba, Colombia, using clay sourced from the shores of the Rio Magdalena River. Once shaped into the desired form and dried outdoors, the pots are polished with precious stones, leaving speckles and dimples seen as signs of beauty by the artisans.
Our casserole dish features handles and a matching lid to heat food evenly. Handmade in La Chamba, a village in Colombia, using techniques that have been passed down through generations. The artisans use clay sourced from the shores of the Rio Magdalena River that contains mica, allowing it to withstand heat.
Once shaped into the desired form, the pots are dried in the sun and then polished with precious stones. Speckles and dimples are typical characteristics of the clay type, considered a sign of unique beauty by the artisans.
