Forming New Surfaces

Lindey Tydeman draws on a background in knitted textiles to inform her jewellery practice, where handcraft and material culture are central to her process. Based in the UK, Lindey creates one-of-a-kind pieces using electroforming, a technique that allows her to grow layers of precious metal over organic forms, building intricate surfaces that reveal contrasts in texture and tone.

Favouring handheld tools over mechanised equipment, Lindey works slowly and intuitively. This measured pace gives her a sense of closeness to the piece as it takes shape. Her inspiration often comes from the sea, realised in the reticulated, bubbled textures she coaxes from the metal, reminiscent of coral, barnacles, and oceanic crust.

Her collection for TOAST is made of sculptural yet wearable pieces, each with a quiet sense of transformation - materials grown and shaped over time through careful attention and elemental processes.
